Clinical Requirements

Clinical Requirements:

All students enrolled in practicum courses are required to maintain current immunization and CPR status. Copies of current documentation of immunization status and Basic Healthcare Provider CPR certification must be submitted on admission and prior to the first day of each clinical practicum. Copies of this documentation should be mailed to the course faculty member. It is prefered that immunizations and CPR be current for the entire semester, prior to beginning the semester. If a student's employer has rules regarding recertification or when a student can obtain updated immunizations that makes this problematic, the course faculty should be contacted.

1. Immunizations:

* Tetanus/Diphtheria (Td) / Must have had on    dose    within past ten years.
*
Measles / If born after January 1, 1957, two    doses, at least 30 days apart, since 12 months of    age.
*
Mumps / If born after January 1, 1957, at least    one dose since 12 months age.
*
Rubella / At least one dose since 12 months of    age.
*
Hepatitis B / A completed three-dose series.
*
Varicella (Chickenpox) / One of the following    three: (1) a series of two doses, four to eight    weeks apart, or (2) a signed statement by the    student's physician stating that the student had    Chickenpox and when the disease occured and    includes contact information for the historian   (person recalling the illness), or (3) positive    varicella titer.

2. In addition to updated immunization record, students must      have documentation of an annual Tuberculosis (mantoux)
     test.

3. Evidence of current Health Care Provider CPR, liability      insurance.

4. Evidence of current unencumbered licensure in the state of     Texas or the state in which practicum course work will occur.

5. Acceptable results from a drug screening test and a criminal      background check within the 30 days prior to beginning      practicum course work. TCU will provide the contacts for
both test and students will use those venders. Payment of
the cost incurred for these tests will be the students      responsibility.
