PBS broadcast a documentary titled “Caring for your Parents” on April 2, 2008. The companion website www.pbs.org/wgbh/caringforyourparents/ includes a caregiver’s handbook that can be downloaded in PDF format. The website also includes a number of other potentially very useful tools and resources.
The Administration on Aging’s Elder Care Locator can connect caregivers with the National Aging Services Network at 800 677-1116.
Another helpful site is the National Association of Social Worker’s website www.helpstartshere.org because it also provides a host of resources and information about caregiving. CareFinder
The Alzheimer’s Association’s CareFinder is an online tool to help those affected by Alzheimer’s disease find good care in their community. The website has sections on Planning Ahead, Care Options, Coordinating Care, and Support and Resources.

The Caregiver Initiative
The Johnson & Johnson Consumer Products Company developed The Caregiver Initiative to call attention to the vital role that family caregivers now play, to help them maintain their own health and well-being while they care for others, and to prepare all Americans to better recognize and accept the responsibilities of caregiving that may well affect them personally as our society ages. The Caregiver Initiative features www.strengthforcaring.com, a comprehensive online resource and virtual community designed specifically for caregivers.
Family Caregiver Alliance
The Family Caregiver Alliance is a public voice for caregivers. The organization’s programs including information, education, services, research and advocacy support and sustain the important work of families nationwide caring for loved ones with chronic, disabling health conditions.

“Since You Care” are a series of guides, which provide practical suggestions and useful tools on a variety of specific care-related subjects including Alzheimer’s disease.
National Family Caregiver’s Association
The National Family Caregivers Association (NFCA) is a non-profit coalition created in 1996 to support family caregivers and the professionals who serve them. NAC’s founding partners are the American Society on Aging, the Department of Veterans Affairs, AARP, the National Council on Aging, and the National Association of Area Agencies on Aging.
U.S. Administration on Aging Eldercare Locator
Eldercare Locator is a public service of the U.S. Administration on Aging. The Eldercare Locator connects older Americans and their caregivers with sources of information on senior services. The service links those who need assistance with state and local area agencies on aging and community-based organizations that serve older adults and their caregivers.
